6. Four Days

Hi sweethearts, please vote and comment . Let's go to the story

After ending the call, I placed my phone on the beside table and let out a soft sing.

My friend had invited me to her engagement, but instead of sounding happy, she sounded worried. Throughout the call, I could sense that something was bothering her. Even though she tried to act normal, her voice carried a hint of nervousness. I wanted to ask her more about it, but she quickly changed the topic and ended the conversation.

Letting out a small sigh, I got up from the couch and headed to the bathroom. I washed my face with cold water and freshened up. The cool water helped me relax a little after the long conversation.

Once I was done, I changed into a comfortable cotton night suit and tied my hair into a loose ponytail. As I stepped out of my room, the aroma of freshly prepared food filled the house.

Maid had already prepared dinner and arranged everything neatly on the dining table. She greeted me with a warm smile and informed me that dinner was ready. "Thank you," I said softly before taking my seat.

The meal was simple but comforting. There was hot rice, dal, vegetable curry, and curd. I served myself and began eating quietly. The house was unusually peaceful that night.

After finishing my dinner, I drank a glass of water and thanked the maid for preparing the meal. She smiled and went back to cleaning the kitchen.

I slowly walked back to my room, closed the door behind me, and sat on the edge of my bed. The engagement was only a few days away, and for some reason, I couldn't stop thinking about my friend's worried expression. Little did I know that attending that engagement would change more than one life.

The next morning, I woke up as soon as my alarm rang. After stretching for a few minutes, I got out of bed and headed to my home gym. I spent an hour working out before returning to my room. Once my workout was over, I took a refreshing shower and got ready for the day. By the time I came out from bedroom, breakfast was already prepared.  Maid had made my favorite vegetable sandwich along with a cup of hot coffee.

After finishing breakfast, I picked up my handbag, grabbed my car keys, and left for the office. As soon as I entered my cabin, a thought crossed my mind. I pressed the intercom button.

"Priya, come to my cabin. Now."

A few moments later, Priya knocked on the door.

"May I come in, ma'am?"

"Come in."

Priya stepped inside and stood in front of my desk. I looked up from the file in my hand and asked coldly, "Priya, what did you say yesterday about my friend's invitation?"

Priya blinked in confusion. "Ma'am, I said it was your friend's wedding invitation. "Are you sure?" I asked, my voice firm and authoritative.

"Yes, ma'am. I'm one hundred percent sure."

I placed the invitation card on the table and leaned back in my chair. "No, Priya. It wasn't a wedding invitation."

Priya's confidence immediately vanished.

"It was an engagement invitation. "The room fell silent.

Priya's eyes widened slightly as she looked at the card. Her face turned pale with embarrassment. She nervously adjusted her grip on the file she was holding.

"I-I'm sorry, ma'am. I must have misunderstood. ""You should pay attention before making assumptions," I said in a strict tone.

"Yes, ma'am," Priya replied softly, lowering her gaze.

She felt embarrassed and slightly intimidated. Being corrected so firmly by her boss made her nervous, and she silently hoped she wouldn't make the same mistake again.

Just as Priya was about to leave, I stopped her. "Wait." She immediately turned around. "Yes, ma'am?"

"What is my schedule four days from now?" I asked while checking a few documents on my desk.

Priya quickly opened her tablet and reviewed my calendar. "Ma'am, you have three meetings scheduled that day. One is with the marketing team in the morning, another is a client meeting in the afternoon, and the last one is a board review meeting in the evening. "I nodded thoughtfully.

"Cancel all of them."

Priya looked up in surprise but quickly regained her composure. "All of them, ma'am?"

"Yes. Reschedule them for another day if necessary."

"May I know the reason, ma'am?" Priya asked cautiously.

"My friend's engagement is that day, and I'll be attending it."

"Of course, ma'am. I'll make the necessary arrangements."

"Good."

"I'll update your schedule immediately." I gave her a brief nod.

"Anything else, ma'am?"

"No. That will be all."

"Yes, ma'am."

With that, Priya left the cabin and quietly closed the door behind her. As she walked back to her desk, she began rearranging Archana's schedule, making sure every meeting was either postponed or reassigned before the end of the day.

The next four days passed in a blur .As the CEO of her company, Archana was constantly occupied with meetings, project reviews, business discussions, and endless paperwork.

From the moment she entered her office every morning until she returned home at night, her schedule remained packed .Meanwhile, Vikram was equally busy with his own responsibilities. Important meetings, client visits, and business commitments kept him occupied throughout the week. Although their paths had crossed before, neither of them knew that fate was slowly preparing to bring them together once again.

Day after day, Archana's routine remained the same. She would wake up early, complete her workout, get ready for work, and spend most of her day managing the company. Whenever she found a moment to relax, her thoughts drifted back to her friend's engagement.

Something about her friend's worried voice during that phone call continued to bother her. On the other hand, preparations for the engagement were going on in full swing. Decorations were being finalized, guests were receiving invitations, and both families were busy making arrangements for the grand event.

Finally, the much-awaited day arrived.
